Norwegian leads Warriors to road win over Vipers

The West Kelowna Warriors moved closer to the Vernon Vipers in the BC Hockey League’s standings with a 4-1 road win over the Snakes Wednesday night.

Johannes Lokkeberg, a native of Fredrikstad, Norway, led the Warriors with two goals and one assist before a crowd of 1,672 fans at Kal Tire Place.

Shea Busch got the lone goal for the Vipers which came early in the third period with the home town team down 3-0.

Rorke Applebee made 26 saves for the goaltending win, while Ethan David took the loss, with 29 stops.

The Vipers fell to 15-6-1-0, and are now 5 points back of the Interior and BCHL leading Penticton Vees who shut out Trail 5-0 on Wednesday.

The Warriors are in third place in the conference with 28 points.

Next up for the Vipers will be the Prince George Spruce Kings Saturday, Dec. 2 at Kal Tire Place for Teddy Bear Toss Night.
