Ski season preparations underway with first real snow at SilverStar

SilverStar Mountain Resort has gotten its first significant snowfall of the season.

The mountain east of Vernon was dusted from the peak to the village with new snow Tuesday, Oct. 24.

“It is very exciting to see new snow at the mountain and hopefully it bodes well for where the season is headed,” Ian Jenkins, Director of Sales, Marketing and Accommodation for SilverStar, told Vernon Matters in an email statement.

“The new gondola cabins have been put on the line and the parking lot is under expansion and we are nearing the launch of our new SilverStar App.”

Jenkins added the renovations at paradise camp have been complete, and staff were doing “touch up” work at other locations on the hill.

The resort is scheduled to start running the chair lifts and open the ski season on Thursday, November 30, though Jenkins noted that if a lot of snow falls in the coming weeks, the mountain may be able to open early.
