Frank Stewart Martina

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Frank Martina at the age of 76.
Frank was known as the “Voice of Vernon” as a radio broadcaster for 49 years at CJIB, KISS FM, and Beach Radio, finishing in 2020 with his well-loved Saturday Oldies Show.
Frank also spent 22 years as an Auxiliary member of the RCMP and was proud of the time served on the force from 1977-1999.
Frank was born and raised in Saskatchewan, moving to Vernon in 1971 with his wife Linda, where they raised their two children and made many friends and great memories in the community.
He was predeceased by Linda in 1997 and is survived by his children: Sheldon Martina (Noreen), Janell Thorpe (Tim), his grandchildren: Kourtni, Allyssa, Hannah, Daymen, Justin, and Kolby. He also leaves behind his sister Pam Petrie (Alan) and a large extended family, mostly in Saskatchewan.
Frank always had a passion for music, a keen interest in classic cars, loved dogs, going for walks, and watching his favourite TV shows, especially “Judge Judy”. He truly enjoyed life’s simple pleasures: a good steak dinner, a couple of vodka-soda cocktails, and a good nap. Frank could often be seen cruising around town in his convertible Mustang when the sun was shining with a big smile on his face.
Frank had a quick wit, a unique sense of humour and was full of love and kindness to all those who were near and dear to him. Frank was a great friend to many and he always looked forward to his early morning visits with his coffee buddies. Thank you especially to Regan, Doug, and Ray for being his best buds.
There will be no service as per Frank’s wishes, but in his honour please turn up a good song, raise your glass, and remember Frank in whatever capacity you knew him.
