The planned rockfall mitigation work for the Okanagan Rail Trail has been rescheduled.

Temporary closures are planned for a portion of the Okanagan Rail Trail for rockfall mitigation work.

A section of the trail in the North Okanagan will be closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. starting September 5 to allow for the work.

The affected area is between Kickwillie Loop Road and Kekuli Bay Provincial Park.

The Regional District of North Okanagan, which owns that section of the trail, stated the pathway will be open and accessible all day on the weekends and after 5 p.m. on weekdays during the work period.

There will also be a detour in place via the Kal Crystal Waters Trail, though the RDNO warns that route has steeper grades than the Rail Trail and may be challenging to some users.
