Residents in the Osoyoos area are able to relax after several weeks of uncertainty caused by the Eagle Bluff wildfire.

On Thursday, Aug. 10, the Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen and the Town of Osoyoos lifted all of the remaining evacuation alerts. That covered 132 properties in the RDOS (Areas A and B) and two in the town.

The BC Wildfire Service said the 7,060 hectare fire is being held.

The fire was first discovered July 29 after it jumped over the U.S.- Canada border and the cause is under investigation.

At the height of the emergency, evacuation orders covered more than 700 properties while 2,000 more were on alert as winds blew the fire toward Osoyoos, but a shift in winds the next day pushed the flames away from the town.
