BCHL and Headcheck extend concussion care program
BC Hockey League players will continue to receive enhanced concussion services after the league and Headcheck Health extended their partnership.
Under the guidance of the league’s new sports medicine physician, Dr. Tin Jasinovic, Headcheck will collaborate with team medical resources to provide standardized return-to-play management and medical clearance oversight for all concussed athletes. If an athlete experiences an atypical recovery pattern, they will also have direct referrals to specialized medical help such as neurologists and vestibular therapists, if necessary.
“Player safety has always been a top priority for the BCHL, and our partnership with HEADCHECK Health has been instrumental in advancing our concussion care initiatives,” Steven Cocker, BCHL commissioner, said. “By extending this partnership, we are reinforcing our commitment to providing the highest level of care and support to our athletes.”
Since 2017, the BCHL has used Headcheck’s concussion app and web platform to implement, oversee, and evaluate their concussion protocol.
