Man dies in paragliding accident

A tragedy in the Lumby area after a man died while paragliding Thursday afternoon (July 13).

The incident happened at Freedom Flight Park on Mabel Lake Road.

Business owner Dave Underwood told Global News, the 63-year old victim from Vernon was an experienced hang-glider who fell and landed on his back while taking a paragliding lesson.

Underwood called it “a tragic day.”

The BC Coroners Service is investigating the circumstances and what led to the death.
