An elderly driver may be facing a review of her driver’s license after accidentally running into a commercial building in Vernon.

Police, Vernon Fire Rescue and BC Ambulance responded to the 4300-block of 27th Street just after 1 p.m. Thursday, July 6, where a van collided with the front of the Dulux Paints store.

“Police arrived to find a vehicle had been attempting to pull into the parking lot, at low speed, when it collided with the side of a building,” Cpl. Tania Finn, media relations officer, told Vernon Matters.

“Police spoke with the 93-year-old female driver of the vehicle and determined she was physically uninjured. However, she was transported to hospital by the BC Ambulance Service as a precaution.”

Finn said there was minor damage to the vehicle and building, and the driver’s family attended the scene to retrieve the van.

“Police seized the driver’s license and will request the Superintendent of Motor Vehicles conduct a license review,” Finn added.
