It is with deep sadness and wholehearted pain that we announce the sudden passing of Donald Jack Hill. Don passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home of 30 years beside his beloved wife Penny.
Don was born in Vancouver BC and raised in Richmond by his parents Sylvi Olson & Jack Hill, along with his sister Carol. Don welcomed his first son Jody in 1985, then Sean in 1987, and last but not least Kevin in 1989.
Don held many jobs over the years, trying his hand at farming, spending time on fishing boats, working at a pulp mill and driving truck. Don eventually made the decision to retire in Vernon BC.
Don enjoyed fast cars, travelling, spending time on his property, working on anything with a motor, and throwing balls for his four legged pals. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Don. He loved a quiet evening at home with friends, family and a glass in hand.
In 1996 Don met and connected with his half sister Diane, her husband Wayne and their three boys David, Darren, and Ryan.
Don is survived by his wife of 20 years Penny Hill, his boys Jody (Jenna) and grandson Raimi, Sean (Suzane and grandsons Liam and Leon, Kevin (Amanda) and grandsons Jayden, Jaxin and another grandson due in November. He also leaves behind Penny’s daughters Terri (Steve) and grandsons Noah and Adam, Deidre (Mike), Jenna (Jesse) and grandson Cooper.
Don was predeceased by his parents Sylvi and Jack, and sister Carol.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local BC SPCA. Don was a lover of animals – especially his puppy dogs.
As per Don’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. Family and friends are welcome to attend a celebration of life, which will be held at Don and Penny’s home in Vernon on Saturday July 1st,2023 between 1 and 4pm.
