OLIVE MAE SWIFT (Aitken) passed away peacefully on Friday, June 2, 2023.
Olive (Ollie) was born in Vernon on December 18, 1930. She grew up in Falkland where she met Glen Swift, and they were married on June 25, 1955. They moved to Texada Island where many adventures occurred, and lasting friendships were made. Later they moved to Prince George and then back to Vernon, B.C. Olive worked for School District 22 as a custodian for many years. She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Glen. She is survived by her daughter Terry-lynne,(Ken Kranenborg), Grandchildren Katelyn deVos (Stefan) and Darren Kranenborg.
Olive was an avid gardener, out all day tending her flowers even at the age of 89! She loved to cook: her Boxing Day extravaganza was always well attended by family and friends. Olive enjoyed being out in nature, fishing, and hiking. Other hobbies included painting and sewing. Mom had a strong work ethic and lots of spunk, right up until her final hours. Olive was a good friend to many and a blessing to her family. She will be missed dearly. The family wishes to thank the staff at the hospice for their loving care of our mom and grandmother.
