With much sadness we announce that Stuart Norman Lawrence, much loved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, went to be with the Lord on May 20, 2023. He is survived by his loving wife, Marlene, daughter Amanda (John), son Shane (Jeannette) and his four grandchildren, Emma, Ezra, Grace and Fenwick. He was predeceased by his parents, Jean and Norm Lawrence and daughter Heather Lawrence.
Stu was born on August 31, 1949 and grew up in Edmonton where he received his Civil Engineering degree at the U of A. He and Marlene married Dec. 4, 1971 then moved to Hamilton where he received his Masters degree at McMaster University. After the arrival of three children, many moves and 26 happy years raising their children in Prince George, they realized their dream of living on a ski hill and moved to Silver Star Mountain, Vernon BC. Their retirement years were spent enjoying time with family and friends, skiing, travelling, cycling, hiking, volunteering, touring wineries in the Okanagan and RVing. He was so proud of his four grandchildren and loved to hear about their activities and achievements.
A service will be held at 10:30 am on June 9th, 2023 at All Saints Anglican Church, 3205 27 St. Vernon BC. Notes to the family can be forwarded to the family by Pleasant Valley Funeral Home.
If desired, memorial tributes can be made in Stu’s name to the Canadian Cancer Society or Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation. The family is so very grateful for the many doctors, nurses and staff involved in Stu’s care, in the Cancer Clinic, the 6th floor and in ICU at Vernon Jubilee Hospital.
