Frances Ann Langton

Our amazing Mom, Gram, and GG departed this life on May 17, 2023 after a short illness.
Frances was firstborn to Frank and Nina Jackson of Port Moody, B.C. March 28, 1933, and best sister to surviving siblings Kathleen Spence, Gordon Jackson (Carol) and Wynn Robertson (Bob). She met Jerry Langton in high school, married him in 1953, and after nearly 60 years, mourned his passing in 2013.
Family was most important to Fran and Jerry, and they raised Jan (Richard), Ellen, Nina (Tom), and Jay in Armstrong and Vernon. Together they celebrated the arrival of eight treasured grandchildren, and she was Gram to Christopher (Nicole), Sarah (Brett), Megan (Shamus) Heather (Spencer), Ryan, Sachiko (Sean), Hana and Mia (Adam). In the last decade of her life, Fran was absolutely delighted to be GG to cherished great grandchildren Cohen, Beatrix, Burton, Duncan, Sawyer, Eilish and Mabel.
Honoured and admired by us all, Fran is also fondly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, tennis partners, neighbours and friends.
Fran was an adventurer from her youth, travelling extensively with friends and family, often with just a backpack and a hostel booking. Her priorities as a wife, mother and community volunteer belied her quiet independence and determination to live a rich life. As an active hiker, skier, tennis and badminton player, regular concert-goer, voracious reader and self-assured woman, she set the gold standard for a life well lived.
A memorial service is planned for 1:00 p.m., August 12, 2023 at All Saints’ Anglican Church in Vernon. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Fran’s memory to All Saints’ Building Reserve Fund or to a charity of your choice.
