Douglas Ross Dickie was born on May 12, 1946, and passed away suddenly on March 24, 2023. He is survived by his 4 daughters: LeAnn Mogerman (Aaron Mogerman) and grandson Isaac; Jennifer Dickie; Sarah Coad (Tyler Ow) and granddaughters Emily and Juliet; and Rebecca Coad (David Honeyman) and granddaughter Hannah. Doug grew up on a farm in the prairies. He was country cool – he shot guns and rode snowmobiles. He graduated as a pharmacist from the University of Saskatchewan and over his lifetime touched many lives as a valued healthcare provider for his communities, in both Whitehorse and Lake Country. He spent 14 years in the Yukon where he and his wife Judy had their two daughters, LeAnn, and Jennifer, before they moved on to Vernon in the mid 80s. In 1990 he married Penny, his great love. Together they shared worldly adventures, dinner parties with friends, and time as a blended family with her daughters Sarah and Rebecca. Doug had a huge circle of friends with whom he golfed, skied, and socialized. He was a true gentleman and the warmth of his personality radiated throughout a room. He was a fighter right to the end. He had grit, and although he had some tough times, he never complained and instead looked for the bright spots and found the fun in life. Doug had a huge heart, he was easy to love. A celebration of his life will be held in this spring (details to follow). In lieu of flowers, donations in Doug’s memory may be made to the NONA Child Development Centre (nona-cdc.com).
