Called Dad, Grandpa, Brother, Uncle, but really “Jimmy” to most,
Race car driver, mariner, carpenter, mechanic all of those he could boast.
Lynda and Henrietta were the two great loves of his life,
Not really sure who was the favourite, his truck or his wife.
Fifty-six years with Lynda, positively two very best friends,
Daily happy hours at the table right up to the very end.
Plenty of conversations at that table with Jimmy at the head,
Lots of happy memories for many it has been said.
Proud of his children, no matter when they appeared in his life,
Shelly and Kevin’s entrance brought only love and no strife.
Add to that grandchildren, and then great-grandkids too.
To each and everyone it was love through and through.
Paul says his first careers were baker. barista and bartender,
Orders from Dad for coffee, beer and lemon meringue pie were so often rendered.
Many times he would be heard saying “ The woods are my church”.
He loved taking the kids through BC to small towns and lakes they could search.
Grant and Greg shared Jimmy’s love of all things auto,
The older the better seemed to be their motto.
He loved the drag races, having been a driver in his past,
The sound of the Indy 500 on TV – a memory that will last.
Cruising in Henrietta and camping were two of his many joys,
His Minnie Winnie being one of his favorite toys.
His “Best Boy” was Andy, his furpal, who was always by his side.
Their singing together made us all laugh till we cried.
He could swing Lynda around the dance floor back in the day.
In his later years it turned into more of a slow sway.
Rock and roll and country music were most on his playlist.
A good Statler Brothers song he could never resist.
From Victoria to Youbou and then Duncan for awhile.
Then onto Coldstream, which turned out to be more of his style.
His love of his brothers and families brought on many great days,
Camping, fishing, parties, reunions – fun in so many ways.
We will miss him more than words can say,
But cherish the memories each and every day.
