Big crowd sees Vipers knock off Centennials

One of the largest crowds of the season at Kal Tire Place saw the Vernon Vipers drop the Merritt Centennials 6-3 in B.C. Hockey League action Saturday night.

Stittsville, Ont. native Lee Parks scored two goals and added one assist to pace the Vipers to their 15th win of the season before 2,608 fans in Vernon.

The Snakes built up a 4-0 lead in the third period before the Centennials made it interesting with two goals in just over a minute midway through the third period.

Roan Clarke made 26 saves for the win in net while Vernon fired 41 shots on Conor Sullivan.

Isaac Tremblay of Granby Quebec added a goal and one helper for the Vipers who improved to 15-14-0-4 through 33 games, 6th in the Interior Division.

On Friday, the Salmon Arm Silverbacks shut out the Vipers 3-0 at the Shaw Centre.

The Vipers will next host the Cowichan Valley Capitals Friday, Jan. 13 at 7 p.m.
