Kelowna RCMP warn public of “porch pirates”

With holiday shopping underway, the public is being reminded to monitor their package deliveries.
Kelowna RCMP said thieves, commonly referred to as “porch pirates,” will be looking for unattended packages dropped off on doorsteps and at front doors.
Mounties say there have been increased files on these thefts in recent years as online shopping and home delivery have risen.
People are urged to find alternative delivery options for these parcels if the house is unoccupied during the day, such as having the items delivered to a work address or to a different mailing address where someone will be able to sign for the package in person.
