Vernon club to host 300 figure skaters for B.C. event

Nov 16, 2022 | 2:30 PM

The Vernon Figure Skating Club will be the host for the BC 2023 Regional Figure Skating competition at Kal Tire Place in January 2023.

The event will bring about 300 skaters of all ages from around British Columbia.

The club is reaching out for local support to help ensure the competition is a success, and to allow all the skaters and their families to enjoy their time spent in Vernon.

“Currently we are seeking donations for “skater goodie bags” which will be given to all registrants. These bags usually include coupons, small merchandise items, and gift certificates. Donating an item is a great way to encourage local and out-of-town families to go check out your business,” a news release from the organization stated.

The group is also looking for a business(es) who would be interested in providing the actual goodie bags, or in donating for the purchase of the bags.

“If the club was to purchase these bags, we would ensure your company logo is clearly displayed on the bag. This is a great way to brand your company locally and throughout B.C.,” the release said.

Additionally, the organizers are also looking for silent auction items. Items can include smaller items to be part of larger themed baskets, or individual items.

Cash donations would also be appreciated. Any donation will be used to purchase items for goodie bags, silent auction items, along with beverages and snacks throughout the weekend for the volunteers.

To donate, text or call Jolayne Lewis at 403-470-6580. Or by email at jnwolfe1@shaw.ca
