Vernon councillors to attend affordable housing conference

Two of Vernon’s city councillors will attend the 30th annual B.C. Affordable Housing Conference.
Kari Gares and Kelly Fehr will attend the conference at the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre from Nov. 21 to 23, 2022.
Mayor Victor Cumming, who last attended the conference in person four years ago, told Vernon Matters having representatives at this conference is important, as they will be able to gather some valuable information and bring it back to council to help guide local policy.
“We’ve been able to [bring knowledge back to Vernon] in the past, so that’s really important,” Cumming said. “They also make connections with a number of people who both have other ideas, and good ideas, we can bring back, and funders are there as well. So it’s a dual reason to be there.”
