Returning Vernon mayor ready to make progress in second term
A beaming Victor Cumming gathered with family and supporters at the Greater Vernon Museum and Archives Saturday to celebrate a decisive win in the Vernon mayoral race over two-term councillor Scott Anderson.
Cumming won by more than 700 votes in what was a hard fought campaign over what Anderson termed a lack of leadership, while raising concerns about crime and social issues. Cumming stood on council’s record over the past four years.
Cumming, a regional economist, will be joined on council by five incumbents and one newly elected councillor Brian Guy, which should see significant continuity.
All the re-elected and newly elected councillors gathered at the museum following the vote for an impromptu first picture of the new council.
