Travellers through Kelowna International Airport (YLW) will be able to stay in a new luxury hotel in a few years.

YLW and The Sutton Place Hotels have announced development plans for a hotel adjacent to the terminal building to be called The Sutton Place Kelowna.

It should be ready to open in 2026.

“This new commercial development at YLW will be an economic driver for the entire community by creating jobs and promoting tourism throughout the Okanagan,” said Mayor Colin Basran.

“This is the first of many new developments for YLW, I am excited to continue to see the airport grow to meet the needs of our growing region.”

The Sutton Place Hotels is a luxury hotel brand owned and operated by B.C. based Northland Properties Corporation. The company also owns other well-known brands including Sandman Hotel Group, Moxies, Shark Club, Revelstoke Mountain Resort, and the NHL’s Dallas Stars franchise.

“The Sutton Place Hotels are known for delivering exceptional guest experience,” said Sam Samaddar, Kelowna Airport director.

“Their reputation will allow The Sutton Place Hotel Kelowna at YLW to promote the Okanagan as a premiere destination.”

The plans outline a “sophisticated hotel” with “in-room amenities, a stylish business centre, award winning on-site dining, personal concierge services, bell-hop services, and spacious meeting spaces for corporate and social events.”

It’s expected that the Sutton Place Hotel Kelowna will be open and operational in 2026.
