An upcoming event in Vernon now has an added attraction.

The Emily Dahl Foundation (EDF) and North Okanagan Hospice Society are presenting Chris Lemons, who was featured in the Netflix documentary Last Breath, as the keynote speaker at The Vernon & District Performing Arts Centre on Nov. 29.

Last Breath tells the story of a serious diving accident in 2012, when Lemons had his diving cable severed and became trapped 100 metres under the sea without heat or light, and with only the small amount of breathing gas in his backup tank.

The foundation has announced that Avery and Emi, who recently performed at Polson Park, will perform an opening dance called ‘Hope’ at that event.

Avery Morrison has been a dancer for 16 years. Throughout that span, she has competed throughout Canada and travelled to Disneyland on a scholarship.

“She has performed for multiple events in the Okanagan and is excited to be performing for the Emily Dahl Foundation alongside her amazing duet partner, Emiko Robertson,” said Sherman Dahl, foundation co-founder.

Emiko Robertson has been a competitive dancer for 16 years. She has competed in numerous scholarships locally and province-wide, attending conventions and earning scholarships.

“This is wonderful addition to the Last Breath event with Chris Lemons,” said Sherman Dahl. “So many were deeply touched by the performance that Avery and Emi did in Polson Park [as part of Suicide Prevention Day]. See video here.

“What a treat this will be to have them perform at the world class venue like the Vernon Performing Arts Centre,” Dahl added. “This event on November 29 is going to spectacular and moving for the entire community.”
