Residents are reminded that they are responsible for their properties, and sand and sandbags are available at the parking lot across from the Curling Rink on Shields Ave., and at locations on Falkner Ave. and Quesnel Rd.

The Village activated its Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) Tuesday, which as of the time of publication was still operating at Level 1.

“Level 1 allows us to get a task member from EMBC (Emergency Management B.C.) to assist with resources, if needed, for sand and sandbags and the costs associated with those and just monitoring the situation,” said Kadla.

“If it gets any worse and we have to move into consideration of further, more drastic measures like evacuation order, then we would do what’s called a State of Local Emergency and proceed that way and increase our EOC to a Level of 2 or 3. But right now, we hope to remain at Level 1 and hope that the weather cooperates and we don’t have any more problems, but that’s all dependent on the weather.”

The EOC, located at the village office, is open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. while at Level 1.

The Lumby Campground, as well as certain areas of the Salmon Trail, will remain closed until the Localized Flooding Alert is lifted.
