UPDATE: Silverbacks sweep two game series with Vipers

The BCHL-leading Salmon Arm Silverbacks swept their home and home series with the Vernon Vipers, winning 4-1 Sunday afternoon.

London Ont. product Owen Say made 24 saves to back stop the Backs to victory before a crowd of 750 at the Shaw Centre in Salmon Arm

Vernon’s goal came from Luke Pakulak in the third period with his team down 4-0.

The Silverbacks were celebrating 20 years in the BCHL and honouring founding member Garry Davidson.

The Vipers next play Friday, Jan. 7 when they host the Merritt Centennials at 7:00 p.m.

Silverbacks take over first in BCHL with win over Vipers

The Vernon Vipers hope for a better result as they complete a home and home series against the Salmon Arm Silverbacks today. Game time at the Shaw Centre is 4 p.m., a game you can her on 107.5 Beach Radio and Vernon Matters.

The Silverbacks got three goals from Bellville, Ontario product Daniel Panetta in a 3-0 win over the Vipers on New Year’s Day at Kal Tire Place.

Owen Say made 26 saves for the shutout before a near COVID-sellout of 1,444 fans. (50 per cent capacity).

With the win, the Silverbacks took over to spot in the Interior Division, and the BC Hockey League, with a 20-4-1-0 record (.827 winning percentage).

The Vipers are 8th in the Interior at 7-13-3-3.
