Councillor-elect will be sworn into office Dec. 14

The City of Vernon will hold a special meeting of council to swear in Vernon’s new councillor-elect.

The meeting, which will be held at the council chambers on Tuesday, Dec. 14 at 10 a.m., will officially see the winner of the byelection officially sworn into office.

The ceremony will be open to the public, though the city will be limiting attendance to meet COVID-19 protocols, and masks or face coverings will be required.

There are still two advance voting opportunities for the byelection. The advance polls will be open at the council chambers from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on both Wednesday and Thursday (Dec. 1 and 2). So far, 381 people have cast ballots in the first three advance polls.
