Spruce Kings knock off Vipers at Kal Tire Place

The Vernon Vipers got off to a fast start, but couldn’t sustain that in a 3-1 loss to the visiting Prince George Spruce Kings Friday night at Kal Tire Place.

Luke Buss got the crowd of 1,330 on their feet early, scoring 29 seconds into the game for Vernon.

Prince George replied with goals from Simon Labelle in the first and Killan McGregor-Bennett and Nick Rheaume shorthanded in the second.

Ethan David stopped 24 of 27 shots in taking the loss in net,

The Vipers will debut their new jerseys for Retro Night Saturday at 6 p.m. against the Penticton Vees, part of the BC Hockey League’s 60th anniversary celebrations. Listen for the game on 107.5 Beach Radio/Vernon Matters.

In the KIJHL, the Summerland Steam edged the North Okanagan Knights 4-3 in the 1st overtime at the Nor-Val Centre in Armstrong.
