Natalia Udey, aged 86, passed away on September 17, 2021 after suffering a stroke.
Natalie, as she was known to those closest to her, loved to socialize and made friends everywhere she went. She was an avid gardener and spent many happy hours tending her vegetables and flower beds. She loved to share the bounty of her garden with others and spent many hours cooking & preparing preserves in her kitchen. She took particular delight in watching the birds enjoy the sunflowers she grew with them in mind. Natalie also loved to travel and did so extensively until recently.
Working as a Registered Nurse, Natalie served the communities of Alberta and BC for over 50 years. She loved to serve others and was active within her Christian family at Lavington Church and as a regular volunteer at North Okanagan Valley Gleaners.
Natalia is survived by her daughter & son-in-law, Carolynn & Francois and her son & daughter-in-law, Brian & Sharleen; her grandchildren Brian Jr., Megan and Emma; and 3 great grandchildren, as well as many of her brothers & sisters, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of many years, Stanley Udey, and her beloved dog, Bonita.
All who loved her will never forget her love of life and laughter and collecting stuff. She was devoted to God and we who knew her take comfort in knowing that she is enjoying everlasting peace with her Saviour.
Given the current societal restrictions in B.C. pertaining to the pandemic and the difficulty in providing a safe environment for everyone who would wish to attend, the immediate family of Natalie Udey have chosen not to hold a memorial service for her. While Natalie’s family grieves her loss, they have arrived at this decision after much heartfelt consideration and they are at peace.
Natalie’s final wishes to have her remains cremated are being honored and the ashes will be kept at her home in Lumby, BC. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to make a donation to the charity of your choice and in the spirit of giving that was characteristic of Natalie’s personality.
