BCHL well represented at NHL camps
With the Stanley Cup having been awarded in July and with less time off in order to get back on a regular schedule, it has been another unusual offseason in the NHL. This has affected NHL development camps which typically take place over the summer months, soon after the draft.
This year, teams have taken different approaches, but all but two are at least holding some sort of development camp, rookie camp or mini camp ahead of their main training camp later this month.
There are 31 former and current BCHL players who are participating in camps throughout the NHL this year.
The Edmonton Oilers have four former BCHL players on their rookie camp list to lead the way, while another eight teams have two alumni from the league at their camps. 20 of the NHL’s 30 teams who are holding camps have at least one BCHL representative on the ice.
