FLODSTROM, Alberta

Alberta had a wonderful long life. After 92 years of good living, she passed away peacefully.
‘Bertie’ Flodstrom was born in Saskatchewan before moving to BC. She spent her early years at the coast with her grandparents to attend school; then worked as a telephone operator before relocating to the interior where she met her soon to be husband, George.
Settling in the North Okanagan region, Bertie was known for her knitting and she willingly shared her creativity with the local auxiliaries, shelters and anyone in need of a pair of socks, a toque, or sweater.
Described as kind hearted, and quick to laugh, it was no wonder people were drawn to her. She loved children and animals and was never without a pet; Sweetie, being the latest to win her affection.
She loved to twirl to the fox trot and enjoyed time spent at the curling rink with her ladies’ league and treasured the many trophies awarded to her and her teammates. Bertie was often heard humming a tune or singing like a bird and she was very good at both.
Bertie was predeceased by her husband George and daughter Julie and leaves behind her son, Ken; grandson, Cliff and family. As the eldest of four siblings, Bertie is survived by her brother, Cliff (Norma) and many nieces and nephews who all think fondly of their Auntie Bertie.
To the many wonderful friends of Bertie, the family thanks you for your support and watchful eye to ensure our Bertie was well cared for right up to the end.
It would be Bertie’s request that in lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the local SPCA or plant strawberries in your garden so that you too may enjoy her favourite treat. Be sure to scoop on lots of vanilla ice-cream.
