Posted Jun 22, 2021 | 11:45 AM
Laara Kersley (née Viola Day, née Chutskoff & Baturin) lived a fulfilling life as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She spent her youth in the fields of Runnymede, Saskatchewan, and her teens in the city of Vancouver, marrying and living in Winnipeg, and finally settling in Vernon in 1970. After losing her 1st husband, Walter Day, to cancer in 1978, she met John Kersley, in 1982, and shared 39 years of wedded bliss. John will soldier on and hold Laara in his heart. She is dearly missed by her daughter, Lori Day, grandchildren, Cameron Sawdon and Alexandra Day, son Wade Lander, sisters Faye and Cathrine, as well as her family and friends with whom she touched with her vibrant and positive personality. In keeping with her wishes, she requested that her family and friends come together to celebrate her life with a party. Those wishing to honour her life can make a donation in her name to the Allan Brooks Nature Centre.
