A search is being planned in the Enderby area this summer to find the remains of a missing and presumed dead woman who disappeared five years ago.

Caitlin Potts, 27, hasn’t been heard from since Feb. 22, 2016. The Samson Cree First Nation mother was last seen by a witness in Enderby. A missing person’s report was filed with the RCMP on March 1, 2016.

In May 2017, RCMP said they suspected foul play in her disappearance and released a surveillance video of Caitlin entering Orchard Place Mall in Kelowna on Feb. 21, 2016. It’s the last time she was seen, according to the website Missing and Murdered: The unsolved cases of Indigenous Women and Girls.

On the Facebook site, Okanagan Forest Task Force, Victoria Love posted that she is organizing the search and looking for help.

“The search will be for her remains. It will be taking place between August 9-20 and will be very organized and official. I am currently working to hire a search and rescue team,” Love explained.

Love said she is hoping to line up volunteers and extra manpower outside of the search and rescue team, even if its just for a day or two.

“We are looking for experienced hikers, anyone with search and rescue experience, foresters, archaeologists, field techs, hunters—anyone with experience in the bush,” Love said.

Those interested in joining the search can direct message Love via her Facebook.
