A second round of survey work saw about one thousand local residents say what they would like to see in a new park on the former Civic Arena lands.

The information, along with a detailed plan, will be presented to Vernon council today.

The most common topics reported in the second survey, included a desire for washrooms, more parking, and general concerns related to safety and the potential for homelessness, vandalism, or drug use.

The first round of engagement held in June 2020 included 1,069 survey responses and indicated the public preferred outdoor natural areas for relaxation (including lawns, shade trees, picnic areas, and outdoor seating), playgrounds for children, and games/activities for youth and adults. Year-round multi-generational community gathering space was also reflected as a priority.
