Robert George Franklin
“Bob”
June 21, 1945 – May 12, 2020
It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my father, Robert George Franklin (or as many know him, “Bob”), on May 12, 2020. He was an amazing man, my hero. There was nothing he couldn’t do if he put his mind to it. With a passion for learning, he loved to bestow his knowledge on to many. Bob was a wonderful friend, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is now with his beloved wife, Donna (and his many pets that he loved so much), in the Heavens above.
Born in Saskatchewan June 21, 1945, he was a force to be reckoned with from that day on. From Saskatchewan, he worked his way across to Ft. McMurray, Alberta, on to 100 Mile House, BC, then to his final home in Vernon, BC. He was “self-made” from a young boy, retiring comfortably at the age of 36 after selling his successful business, Beacon Hill Esso Service Centre in Ft. McMurray. An entrepreneur, engineer, pilot, outdoorsman, optician/refractionist and so much more.
As I talk to friends and family, the stories of him touch my heart. Bob is remembered as a great conversationalist whose stories caught the imagination and hearts of many. He had a sense of humour like no other and was a kind and caring man that would give you the shirt off his back. Bob was truly a great man whose impact will forever be felt by his family and friends that loved him.
