Silverbacks power past Vipers in BCHL pod play

The Vernon Vipers scored the first and last goals, but ended up losing 6-2 to the Salmon Arm Silverbacks Saturday night at Kal Tire Place.

Logan Lorenz’s fourth goal of the pod season seven minutes into the first period got Vernon on the board but then the Sbacks scored the next six goals in the first and second periods to take control.

Sullivan Mack paced Salmon Arm with a goal and two assists and Owen Say made 26 saves.

Vernon’s other tally came from Luke Pakulak, his third, early in the third.

Roan Clarke replaced James Porter Jr in net in the final period.

The Vipers fall to 10-5-1-1 and next play the West Kelowna Warriors at 7:30 p.m. Monday.

The Vipers have three more games left in their 20 game pod season which will not have any playoffs.
