Delayed game worth the wait for Vipers

Apr 18, 2021 | 8:00 AM

It took a 14-player shootout to determine a winner between the Vernon Vipers and Salmon Arm Silverbacks Saturday night at Kal Tire Place.

Nick Remissong, the seventh Viper shooter, ended the drama with the winner for a 3-2 Vipers win.

The game lasted over two-and-a-half hour after plexiglass was broken and there was a delay as it was replaced 10:22 into the opening period.

Ryan Shostak had a goal and one assist for the Vipers while Noah Serdachny had the same for the Silverbacks.

Cloverdale B.C. product Roan Clarke made 33 saves for the goaltending win.

The Vipers, now 5-3-1-0 in the 20-game pod season, next play Monday night at 7:30 against the West Kelowna Warriors (4-3-1-0). Listen for Graham Turnbull’s pre-game show at 7:15 on 107.5 Beach Radio.

The Silverbacks (4-2-2-1) play again tonight against the Warriors.
