October 5, 1934 – April 8, 2021
Garry died at home cradled by his wife, Jane. He leaves behind his wife (Jane Wakefield-Flint), first wife (Sandra Linn), sister (Carol Koepler), daughters (Dana Flint, Susan Flint, and Jennifer Ko), son (Matthew Wakefield), daughter-in-law (Lin Bao), son-in-law (Nick Ko), grandsons (Brennan and Markus Ko), and grand-pups (Cuddles and Peanut). Garry will be best remembered as a psychologist dedicated to the treatment of trauma survivors and the author of four books. His family, however, also remember him as a man of deep, unfailing love, faith, and hope, a singer and musician, a potter, and a fixer upper. Garry was a fifth generation Californian who moved to Canada in 1994. He received his doctoral degree from Indiana University in 1968. Garry was a member of the Kalamalka Toastmasters, the Vernon Timbertones barbershop singers, and All Saints Anglican Church choir. Garry also had an incredible sense of humour. When asked about death, he would say, “I’m dying to find out what’s it like” and now he knows. Garry will be deeply missed. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to All Saints Anglican Church, Vernon, BC. Livestream funeral will be May 1 at 2:00 pm and information can be found at www.allsaintsvernon.org.
