Drew Mardiros

On March 22, 2021 our dear son died at the age of 37.
Drew was born on Salt Spring Island, traveled the world as a child and grew to adulthood having experienced life in Australia, Thailand, the United States and several parts of Canada.  He developed a deep and abiding love for nature and was a lifelong outdoors person and fisher.   As a teenager he challenged himself in the wilderness and completed several long distance canoe and backcountry hiking trips as part of the YMCA Leaders in Training Program. He also travelled across Canada as a Katimavik volunteer.
Sadly in late adolescence Drew developed serious health problems.  He suffered and struggled with these problems for the rest of his short life.  Despite these challenges Drew remained an extremely kind and giving person who made and kept a legion of good friends.
Drew had a great strength of spirit and was able to remain optimistic about his future right up to his last days. He passed away peacefully at home. He was deeply cherished by his parents David and Marilyn who will always be thankful to have had him in their lives.  He was with us for far too short a time; his loss is deeply felt.
