UPDATE: Juicing company gets permit for Coldstream site

Mar 23, 2021 | 12:10 PM

Coldstream council has approved an application to develop a fruit juicing facility on land near Highway 6.

The owners of the property own and operate Okanagan Mobile Juicing and Juicing Dot Systems, and they want to expand with a 6,000 square foot building at 10036 Ricardo Road.

The 1.06 hectare (2.7 acre) site is currently vacant.

The property is located just south of Burnco’s operations and west of VegPro’s facility.

The company takes raw fruit from local farms and turns it into pasteurized, packaged juice ready for store shelves.

A staff report to Coldstream council stated the operation will produce 500,000-800,000 litres of juice product annually and used to co-pack juices for third parties. The remaining space in the facility will be for machinery storage and repair and office space including sales necessary for the operation.

Council will require additional landscaping to break up the industrial nature of the facility, and any lighting will be down cast, following concerns expressed by neighbors over lighting at the VegPro facility.

The agriculture land commission has approved an application allowing the non-agricultural use of the property, given it is supporting local agriculture.
