Pet owners adopting new dog license program
After a slow start to the adoption of a new dog licensing system for the Regional District of the North Okanagan (RDNO), pet owners are now getting tags at a brisk pace.
“I have just looked at the numbers, and we are at 88 per cent of 2020. Auto calls started last Thursday (Feb. 18) and calls have tripled and quadrupled daily,” Leah Mellott, General Manager of Electoral Area Administration, told a RDNO budget committee meeting Wednesday.
As of Jan. 22, about 70 per cent of an estimated 7,000 canines had been registered for the program partnered with DocuPet.
The RDNO also launched a multi-pronged approach including flyers, a Facebook contest and automated phone calls.
