1919-2021
Anne passed away in Vernon Hospice house on February 11, 2021.
She was born in Bavaria, Germany, the youngest of seven children. She married Andrew in 1949. The couple immigrated to Canada in 1951 with their 4 month old daughter. They settled in Lumby and raised four children there. An avid and productive gardener, she sold vegetables, strawberries and raspberries grown on the city lot. In 1967 the family moved to Vernon where Anne worked in the fruit packing plant. Anne and Andrew were strong supporters of the Schubert Centre, fundraising at Bingo games for years.
After retirement they travelled extensively, their favorite destinations being Hawaii and Portugal. They took a yearly bus tour to Reno where Anne’s winnings at the slot machines would always pay for their trip. They had a table at the Vernon Farmer’s Market where Anne sold her knit socks and baby booties. She was a long time and devout member of St. James Church and a member of the CWL for 68 years. After Andrew’s death, despite declining health, she remained an avid card and Bingo player. Anne especially enjoyed seeing her many great grandchildren. During Covid she often watched videos and appreciated seeing current photos of her grandchildren and great grandchildren, remembering everyone’s names and birth dates.
Anne is predeceased by her husband Andrew and son Freddy. She is survived by daughter Karolina Biolo, son Charles (Janet) Peti, and daughter Linda (Michael) Bourcet, as well as grandchildren Byron(Kim), Christopher (Natasha), Leanne (Craig), Nicholas (Erin), Carmen (Scott), Eve (Nick) and Andrew as well as 12 great grand children.
A small funeral will be held at St. James Church in Vernon.
Her family wishes to thank the staff and Anne’s fellow residents at Carrington who provided her with a caring home for the past several years. Anne was a quiet gracious lady who had a smile for everyone.
