It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Juanita (Neta) Parr (nee Christianson) on December 9, 2020 in Vernon, BC at the age of 81 years.
Juanita was born in Archerwill, SK on September 19, 1939 to Alma and Albert. She moved to BC in 1957 to live with her sister and she soon started working at Weldwood Mill. It was here that she met her future husband, William (Bill) Parr in 1958. They were married in 1960, and just recently celebrated 60 years together. In 1962, her daughter Louanne (Keith Ohlhauser) was born, followed by her son Russel (Mary) in 1964. They spent most of their married life living between Quesnel and Vernon. Her five grandchildren are: Brittany, Jonathan, Kristin (Shaun), Lisa (Devan) and Hailey (Chris); as well as three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents and sisters Irene, Emma, and Mabel.
While she was raising her young children, she was employed with the Vernon Homemakers Society. She was passionate about the Sons of Norway and Canadian Legion social clubs; also bowling, curling, golf, and aquafit. She was artistically inclined and spent many hours both painting canvas and creating ceramics. A particular passion of hers was attending parades and she brought her grandchildren too many. She considered even the most distant relation as close family, and she is remembered fondly by many in this regard. Neta was recognized for donating blood to the Canadian Red Cross over 50 times in her life.
We would like to thank those who have sent condolences to her family, especially her husband Bill and her children. Our thanks go out to the staff at Hawthorn Park who supported Bill and Neta over the past two and a half years and also to Polson Care Home who cared for her during her final days.
A private virtual celebration of life will be held on Sunday December 20, 2020 at 11 am. Those wanting to attend should contact Louanne Ohlhauser (louanne.ohlhauser@gmail.com).
