Vernon and OKIB celebrate two years of working together
Members of Vernon Council and the Okanagan Indian Band (OKIB) gathered Monday afternoon at Sandy Beach/Kin Beach to mark the second anniversary of the Relationship Accord.
A tree was planted at the beach in recognition of the pact which was signed at the same site on October 13, 2018.
This partnership is to create a process for the two communities to create a stronger relationship through joint economic development activities. The priorities identified during joint workshops are land use planning, infrastructure and tourism opportunities.
The city has a waterfront economic development plan and the OKIB is exploring where the opportunities may exist during this development.
