Several local organizations are getting a break from Vernon city hall.

The Vernon Pickleball Association, the North Valley Gleaners Society, and the North Valley Gymnastics Society were each granted a 50 per cent break on property taxes.

Grant requests from the Miriam Masonic Holding Company and the Upper Room Mission Boutique properties were denied.

In all, more than 30 social service agencies receive a 100 per cent tax break. Cultural and eduction services can apply for a 75 per cent reduction, while recreational services are eligible for a 25 per cent break.
