Michael "Mike" Richard Edward Parkinson
Posted Aug 25, 2020 | 10:28 AM
We regret to announce Michael’s death on July 8th at the Vernon Jubilee Hospital.
Michael was born in Johannesburg, South Africa and then immigrated to Canada with his parents, Sheila (Sally) and Edward (Ted) Parkinson. Other than a short time living in Vancouver and Vernon, Michael lived most of his life in Coldstream.
Michael could best be described as a “big personality” who was fearless, humorous and gregarious. He enjoyed his friends who were his support system and second family and loved his dogs, most recently his beloved pet Rummy. He enjoyed being current with world affairs and expressed his creativity as a young boy through drawing comics and as an adult sketching and painting.
Michael is survived by his three sisters; Anna France (Douglas) of Perth, Ontario; Amanda Miller (Michael) and Maureen Parkinson of Vancouver, B.C. He also leaves his niece, Sarah Miller and his nephews John France, Richard France, and Maxwell Miller.
He will be remembered in a private memorial. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to the Vernon Mission and to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
