(March 1, 1948 – August 7, 2020)
There’s another star in the sky. Leaving this world on August 7, 2020 Patricia Anne (Patty) Lockhart’s time on earth can best be described as “A Life Well Lived”.
Patty was known as an exceptional student throughout her academic life. She was the big sister to sister Linda and brothers Mike, Don and Duncan. She raised two wonderful children, Ben and Ellie and took so much pride in their successes as parents of her grandchildren, Julie, Anne and Myah.
Following her marriage to Paul Colver she met Bill Lockhart in September of 1989 and joined him in holy matrimony on August 21, 1999 commencing what some called “Bill & Pat’s Amazing Adventure” with long-term international development work in many countries including Swaziland, South Africa, China and Jordan. Wherever she went she brought joy and happiness to children in need and her sparkly blue eyes lit up the lives of hundreds of people.
Patty was a trained social worker with a BSW/MSW from the University of Calgary and worked as a clinical social worker at Foothills Hospital in Calgary and later as a community social worker for the city of Edmonton. For many years she designed an online cookbook and recipe internet site sharing ideas for delicious meals for Families. An avid reader consuming up to 8 books a week, she volunteered as a librarian at the Sifundzani School in Swaziland and introduced the joy of reading to children and young adults. She had an entrepreneurial spirit and Co-founded and partnered in a coffee business in Calgary and later supported her husband in Lockhart Management and Consulting Services. Her daily communication and encouragement provided guidance for his development work in Nigeria, Kuwait and Vietnam when she could not be with him in person.
Countless volunteer hours were spent with organizations serving the needs of children and adults with disabilities and she provided leadership as president of the Calgary chapter and as a provincial director of the Alberta Association for Community Living.
Patty is pre-deceased by her father, Donald J. Chute and mother Mary Catherine (Kay) Chute of Edmonton and Calgary and survived by her sister Linda (Bob) Bolack, London, Ontario, brothers Mike of Winnipeg, Don (Donna) Chute of Winnipeg, Duncan Chute of Calgary, son Ben Colver (Abigail) and granddaughters Anne & Myah of Kamloops, daughter Eleanor (Ryan) and daughter, Julie of Vernon, BC, along with stepsons, Scott, Adam & Mark Lockhart in Alberta.
Patty will be greatly missed by her Family and husband Bill who knows that a brightly twinkling blue and white star in the night is his beloved Patty. In lieu of flowers those friends wishing to make memorial contributions in memory of Patty may do so to the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation.
May her blue eyes and beautiful smile shine on the world forever.
