15 to 20 jobs lost

Quality Greens confirms closure

It’s perhaps another sign of the challenging times for the retail sector.

Quality Greens has confirmed the closure of its Vernon location effective Nov. 6.

“We aren’t seeing the volumes where they need to be to make the store profitable. It’s been a tough go. I think retail has been a bit tough the past few years,” District Manager Mehalee Andrich said in an interview with Vernon Matters .

Approximately 15 to 20 jobs will be lost as a result of the closure.

The Okanagan-based company’s wholesale operations, Okanagan Quality Wholesale, will continue to operate in the Vernon area.

The Vernon store has been in business for 22 years.

Stores in Kelowna and Penticton are expected to remain open.

It’s the second major announcement this month by local produce-related businesses after Swan Lake Nurseryland announced earlier it will be closing from November to February.
