Five secondary school athletic programs in School District 22 will receive $655 each in funding from the 2019 Rotary Athletic Awards.

Keith Johnson from the Silver Star Rotary Club and Jacqueline Rivard from the Kalamalka Rotary Club presented a cheque worth $3,775 to School District 22 Superintendent Joe Rogers this week.

Five hundred dollars will also be distributed to the Kalamalka Secondary Jazz band which performed for the audience during the awards ceremony in June.

“Student participation in extracurricular activities is directly related to improved academic performance and a more positive attitude toward school,” Rogers said. “We are very thankful to receive these funds from the Rotary Clubs of Vernon and look forward to the positive impact it will have on our students.”
