Update :

Vernon Fire Chief David Lind confirms no one was inside the home at the time of the blaze, but a family pet had to be rescued.

He said that by the time crews arrived the fire was already charing part of the roof.

Crews were able to prevent the fire from spreading to other homes, but a home located next door did suffer some minor damage, according to Lind.

The fire chief was unable to confirm previous reports of the home being a rental or who lived in the home, but said an investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.

The property is believed to be fully insured, according to Lind.

He added that he is impressed with how well his team responded.

ā€œI’m just really impressed with the good work that the crews did here today. They were able to really limit the damage to the home next door to the exterior,ā€ Lind said.
