Roy was born in Moose Jaw, SK and moved to Vancouver when he was 8, where he completed his schooling, then worked at various jobs in the grocery business, postal service and government liquor stores.
He is a veteran, serving in the Royal Canadian Navy during WWII. He married Maureen in 1946 and lived in Burnaby, BC. His sons were born there and Roy worked for the Liquor Control Board. They transferred to Vernon, BC in 1964 and lived in Coldstream. He is greatly respected for his community service to the Boy Scouts, and was a lifelong blood donor, and he gave generously to many charities. He was an active member of the congregation at All Saints Anglican Church. Roy was kind, gentle and patient, a good example to his family and friends. He was a good dancer, gardener, storyteller, carpenter, outdoorsman, friend and will be sorely missed, but happily remembered. God Bless Roy.
Our family wishes to extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff and residents at Creekside Landing for their outstanding care and compassion during his time living there.
In keeping with his wishes, there will not be a formal funeral. Rather, his ashes will be placed in the family columbarium at the All Saints Anglican Church in Vernon, BC in a private family ceremony.
Donations in his honour may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada, Canadian Red Cross, or the Salvation Army Canada. You are invited to leave a personal message and/or photo at www.vernonfuneralhome.com
