July 29, 1948 – June 21, 2019
Ret. Capt. Brian George was born July 29, 1948 and passed away June 21, 2019 at the age of 70 years.
After living in various places throughout his childhood, he settled in Fort St. John, BC, where he became a “Live-In Firefighter” and began training to become an active Firefighter and Paramedic. He retired in 2000 after 26 years of service with the rank of Captain.
His hobbies included: travelling, fishing, hunting, camping, boating, baseball, curling, golf, and his lifelong love of hockey. Playing as a child led to a passion that he carried throughout his adult life, participating in adult and firefighter leagues and coaching children.
He was actively involved in the Firefighter’s Union after retirement, also lending his experience to help coordinate firefighting efforts on wildfires in the Okanagan. He was well respected by his colleagues and Union members for his dedication to saving lives.
In recent years, he continued to enjoy all of his hobbies, but his greatest joy came from travelling with his wife Susan and visits with his Grandchildren, Rylan and Sebastian.
Brian was predeceased by his father, Robert George, and recently predeceased by his mother, Cleda George. He is survived by his wife, Susan La Rocque; his daughter, Shannon George; and grandsons Rylan Holmen and Sebastian Holmen.
He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him.
Brian’s Celebration of Life will be held at The Royal Canadian legion – Peachland Branch on July 27, 2019 at 11:00 am, with a reception to follow.
