Rockets welcome back Tomas Poletin from Islanders

The Kelowna Rockets are getting a key offensive piece back just in time for a weekend rivalry series.

Forward Tomas Poletin has been reassigned to the Rockets by the New York Islanders after attending the team’s rookie camp and appearing in a preseason game Sunday.

The 19-year-old Czech winger was Kelowna’s first overall pick in the 2025 CHL Import Draft. He scored 20 goals and added 15 assists in 43 regular-season games with the Rockets last season, then recorded five points in nine playoff games.

Poletin was selected by the Islanders in the fourth round, 106th overall, in the 2025 NHL Draft. He also helped Czechia win silver at the 2026 world junior championship, recording six points in seven games.
